About your new role

The Senior Policy Officer is tasked with being a key contributor across the entire policy lifecycle, from initial research and evidence-based analysis to the final implementation of strategic initiatives crucial for meeting agency goals. This pivotal role requires the seamless translation of complex findings into clear, authoritative policy advice and briefing materials. Furthermore, the officer must adeptly manage stakeholder consultation and engagement while leveraging a deep, practical understanding of government processes, especially the demanding workflows associated with ministerial and parliamentary business.

What you will need to exceed

• Demonstrated capacity to prioritize complex tasks and successfully meet deadlines while operating autonomously or contributing within a team setting

• Superior proficiency in both oral and written communication.

• Comprehensive knowledge of public policy formation and core Australian Government operational frameworks.

• Direct experience drafting sensitive documentation, specifically for ministerial and executive audiences.

• Advanced capability in critical thinking and resolving issues.

Desirable

• Experience in a policy or research role, preferably within the public sector.
• Tertiary qualifications in public policy
